Complaints are reports from owners of this model year, not findings about any particular vehicle, and a model that sold in large numbers will collect more of them. They are counted here as filed; nothing is inferred from them.

TRAILER HITCHES:FIFTH WHEEL ASSEMBLY

If the fifth wheel and locking mechanism are sufficiently damaged, the locking mechanism may fail to operate as intended and the trailer may unexpectedly detach from the tractor, increasing the risk of a crash.

15V6340002015-10-08

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

If the mounting points crack and tear or the attaching bolts loosen or fail, the power unit may detach from the truck, becoming a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.

15V5240002015-08-17

SERVICE BRAKES

If the brake handle does return to the off position, the trailer service brakes may drag causing the wheel end to overheat and potentially cause a wheel end fire or tire blowout. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.

14V7400002014-11-18

TIRES

Premature tire failure could increase the risk of a vehicle crash.

14V7390002014-11-18

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

If the drivetrain does not re-engage, the vehicle's stopping distance may be lengthened, increasing the risk of a crash.

14V3560002014-06-20

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

If the active braking feature becomes disabled, the vehicle may not automatically activate the brakes as intended when the enhanced cruise control system is in use, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

This page is about a model, not a car

Two 2012 VOLVO VNLs can have entirely different histories, and a recall campaign usually covers a build-date window rather than a whole model year — which a VIN does not encode, so only the door-jamb label settles it. Scanning the VIN adds the decode, the crash tests, the fuel economy and the complaints matched to that exact engine, trim and assembly plant.
